ICCF publishes its guidance document on ‘Manufacturing Process and Specification’

02 July 2021 – The International Cooperation for Convergence of Technical Requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF) Steering Committee is pleased to announce that it has endorsed the guidance document on ‘Manufacturing Process and Specification’ during its meeting on the 15th of June 2021.

During the year 2020, an Expert Working Group composed of dedicated regulatory authority and industry experts from the founding ICCF members was created to establish recommendation concerning the information to be provided on the manufacturing process of feed ingredients, for further risk assessment. In addition, the description of the manufacturing process will support the provision of its specifications. The draft document built on consensus between the experts was submitted to Public Consultation in January 2021. Comments from different stakeholders were received and further discussed within the group of experts, before finalising the Guidance Document.

The draft guidance document provides guidance to applicants for providing the relevant information necessary for the safety evaluation of feed ingredients. It distinguishes different process steps to be described and provides guidance on the setting of specifications, in relation with the manufacturing process. The guidance document builds on existing international guidance documents, and on expertise and experience from a panel of experts drawn from the ICCF founding members.
